The View From Her Side
What Losing Male Privilege Revealed About Power, Leadership, and Vulnerability
The View From Her Side is a forthcoming book about gender, power, leadership, vulnerability, and the systems that teach women to adapt to a world built around men.
For the first half of her life, Katrina King moved through the world with authority that often arrived before she did. She was listened to in rooms, trusted as an expert, and granted a kind of ease she did not yet fully understand.
Then, in the middle of her career, she transitioned.
What changed was not her intelligence, experience, ambition, or capability. What changed was the way the world responded to her.
Part memoir, part feminist analysis, and part leadership reckoning, The View From Her Side explores what losing male privilege revealed about power: how authority is granted, how femininity is punished, how women are expected to manage the consequences of men’s behavior, and how systems protect themselves by pretending they are neutral.
This is a book about transition, but it is not a book about being trans. It is about the rules everyone is living under, and what becomes visible when you cross from one side of them to the other.
The View From Her Side is currently in development.
