A technologist turned writer, speaking from both sides of power.

For most of my career, people listened when I spoke.

I spent more than twenty years building technology for the film and television industry. Along the way, I became an Academy Award-shortlisted creative technologist, a patent holder, a public speaker, and eventually the Global Strategy Leader for Film and Television Production at Amazon Web Services.

Then, in the middle of that career, I transitioned.

I remained in the same industry. I continued leading teams, advising customers, speaking at conferences, and building technology. In many ways, I was the same person I had always been. Yet the world often responded very differently.

What followed was an education I never expected to receive.

The View From Her Side began as an attempt to make sense of that experience. What started as personal observation quickly became something much bigger. The more time I spent living and working as a woman, the more I began to recognize patterns that had once been invisible to me. Patterns in leadership. Patterns in credibility. Patterns in power. Patterns in vulnerability.

I discovered that many of the assumptions I had carried through life no longer applied. I watched the way authority was granted, challenged, dismissed, or earned. I experienced firsthand how expectations around gender shape professional opportunities, personal safety, social dynamics, and even the stories we tell ourselves about fairness.

This project explores those questions through essays, interviews, satire, storytelling, and lived experience. It is informed by my background in technology and leadership, but it is ultimately about people. It is about how gender shapes the way we move through the world and how those experiences influence our understanding of power, belonging, and humanity.

The View From Her Side is not simply a trans story. It is a conversation about the systems and assumptions that affect all of us. It is an attempt to bridge worlds that increasingly struggle to understand one another. It is an invitation to look at familiar problems from a different perspective.

Most of all, it is a search for truth.

Because there are few opportunities in life to experience the same world from two very different vantage points. I was fortunate enough to get one.
